Week 3? More like Week 26.

So, we are at getting ready to begin week four of classes. Not too bad right? I mean we are almost  halfway through the quarter. Wait, I forgot we don't have a 10 week schedule. We now have a 16 week schedule. Ridiculous. I can already tell you I miss the quarter system and this is why:

Week three agenda: Exam, Exam, Exam.
Week four agenda: Exam.
Class Monday through Friday and 12 more weeks of torturous exams.

I really do like ONU, but this semester transition is really making me crazy. This may be do to the fact I haven't had a class since February, but I feel like the workload for semesters is a little much. This year, every class requires a large project. I know this is really going to help us get hands-on experience but I just don't know how one can handle large projects, exams, student organizations, quizzes and an internship all at the same time. I feel like this is impossible. The workload is too much and I am just ready to graduate. Ready to enter the working world and ready to get these ridiculous exams over with.

I'm ready to say goodbye to ONU and I'm ready to move to the big city. Hello Columbus!

  1. I too am not liking semesters! I have an exam every week so far. Its ridiculous. And I have a big project in every single class as well. Some dont seem too bad, except for capstone, international marketing and product development. But still. UGH!

  2. Yes, I have a project in every single class as well, plus capstone. Plus, we are only starting on what, week 4? I feel like I have been at ONU for half a year already. I start work this week and that only adds to my load. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, I am going to have to from 9:30 in the morning to 9:00pm with little 15 minutes breaks in between my classes which only leaves me enough time to get to my next class. I'm so ready to walk across that stage and be done with the classroom schedule for now.

  3. I can totally see why you are having a hard time adjusting. I'm having an opposite experience, I'm having no exams or projects yet. I feel like in a week or two I'm be experiencing weeks just like you are now. Maybe when they planned the transition, they thought, "oh we have 5 more weeks now, let's add more projects and exams!" I thought it was going to be the same amount of material or close to it, but just spread out across more weeks. Doesn't feel like it!

  4. I had almost this exact reaction this week! I was on the phone and I was like oh it's the beginning of week 4 so we are almost half way...oh wait! I agree that instead of the school stretching out the information and us having more time to grasp the concepts and learn the lessons they have just added more information to learn. And with semesters I am taking more classes at one time than I ever had to take with quarters. This whole system is stressful. I might have liked semesters if I never got to experience the glorious world of quarters!

  5. I completely agree! The semester transition has been a little rough, but for most people on campus it is completely new. The one thing that has really bugged me about this transition is that even though we went from 10 to 16 weeks, we only have 8 more hours of class time. This means the whole add extra stuff on and "go more into depth" is really taking its toll since there really isn't that much more time with semesters.
